Megalopolis
Los Angeles, CA |
Megalopolis are the big cities located in the coastal area between Boston and Washington. "Population, urban centers, and economy define Megalopolis more than its physical boundaries or watersheds" (mayda 125). The regions in Megalopolis are determined by where people live and the population and not really by the physical landscape.
Megalopolis is leading the way to a sustainable future. Megalopolis is heavy populated, but its leads the nation in transportation efficiency because of the railroads and metros. Also, Megalopolis is active in sustainable energy and green power."In April 2007, New York City followed the carbon reduction standard set by California to reduce carbon emissions 30 percent by 2030" (Mayda 172). In New York, companies began to invest in wind power. An example is the wind farms in at Roackaway Beach, Queens. The wind farms reduce greenhouse gas emission (Mayda 172).
