Big-E-Maine-Potatoes.jpg

In the Aroostook Valley located in Maine, the soil is cool and the weather is moist which is ideal for potato growth. At one point, Aroostook Valley was one of the main potato producers in the United States. Now, Aroostook is in fifth place.Maine's soil is also perfect for growing winter-hardy blueberries. Maine's blueberries are grown along the coastal areas, and ninety percent of world's blueberries are grown in Maine (Mayda 143).

Here in California we also have potato farms and blueberry farms.
Weiser Family Farms

Weiser Family Farms grows  different products including potatoes in the  Bakersfield area in California.

Local foods from each region are a form of sustainability  because the region is profiting from their own natural region.
